Legal Expert

At first glance, this suggestion may seem too much for a student unable to decide their career path, but as a legal professional, I know just how wide the choices are in my field.

With legal expertise to lean on, a student can choose to specialize or learn more in just about any industry they later choose. Moreover, someone who takes the legal path can create far more impact and value.

From IT to everyday law, a student with a degree in law can choose just about any field as long as they’re willing to put in the work and learn as much as they can in their chosen career.

Psychology

You can’t go wrong with psychology. Psychology typically involves philosophical concepts, psychological theories, interpersonal communications, and sociology among many others. These are classes that any person confused about what to do with their life can handle. Also, later in life, when they finally decide what they would want to do with their lives, they can easily combine the course with something else. Psychology will be helpful to them in life, whether or not they use it to start a career. Also, psychology careers are always growing and the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that psychology jobs are expected to grow 14% by 2028. You simply can’t go wrong with psychology.

Entrepreneurship

Being an entrepreneur is difficult, but it can be as easy with a specific approach.

Entrepreneurship offers a wide variety of fields to specialize in. You might not decide about your school life, but pursuing entrepreneurship opens your mind. You get to explore new adventurous ways of working.

In this field, you will interact with accounting, the human resource department, and the organization at large.

Mathematics

While most students will go the route of a liberal arts degree, those who are undecided can find a career path in math. A mathematical mind is great for an array of careers, including economics, accounting, actuarial science, and statistics.

By studying math, you’d be able to apply to several high-paying jobs. If a student wants to be undecided, they should avoid a science or health career. Math is a great way to build a foundation for a wide range of career paths.

Economics

Although not the most exciting major in college, economics may lead to rewarding careers for hesitant students. Unless you’re interested in how government policies function or want to work in Washington, DC, economics may be the perfect college major for you.

Economic programs foster critical thinking abilities. They will also educate you on how to critically think so that you can solve real-world situations. Students who enjoy thinking, pondering, and reasoning can benefit from a degree in economics.

Computer Programming

In the age of technology and digitalization, Computer Science is one of the most lucrative fields—IT jobs are always in demand and therefore offer one of the best salary opportunities. Also, computer science covers an extremely vast array of fields, from cybersecurity and software engineering to UX/UI design and data analysis. Sure, there is some math and statistics involved in the learning process. However, the primary goal of this program is to become good at abstract thinking. This is the target of any solid liberal education, and having trained in computer science can make this possible. When stuck and unsure of what career path to choose, it’s wise to decide on aspects such as job satisfaction, future opportunities, and, of course, solid pay. Liberal studies or business management might be too vague and difficult to get into if you’re not too invested in them.

Communications

Deciding on your career option can be difficult when you’re not sure what you want to be when you “grow up.” If you’re uncertain about your future career path, you may wish to consider a career in communications, as the experiences and skills you gain will be transferable to nearly any future industry and role.

Sales

As an undecided student, sales is always a good career path to explore. Many people start their careers in sales only to move into other departments. A job in sales can hone your people and communication skills and give you insight into the daily operations of any business. Even for six months or until you’ve determined what your genuine passion is, a job in sales is always beneficial to a post-graduate repertoire.

Cryptocurrency/Blockchain

Working with the blockchain ‌or in the cryptocurrency field ‌can be a great career option for an undecided student.

Undecided students may not have found their passion yet, and this innovative field attracts people with a passion for innovation. Cryptocurrency is a modern method of payment that may continue to gain wider acceptance in the future, and the blockchain technology that underlies it is truly fascinating.

This makes it a superb choice for a student who does not feel drawn to anything in particular. There is a lot of exciting work to be done in crypto!

Artificial Intelligence

Undecided students have so many options to choose from, and since that’s how it is in the AI industry, I highly recommend a career in artificial intelligence.

As a growing field with immense potential, AI will soon play a role in just about every industry out there, so when you choose a career in AI, you also gain the freedom to expand your career in any direction you want.

As a student develops a genuine interest later in their career, they can choose to put their AI teachings to work in the sector or segment they choose, thus leaving them with a path-breaking career that they’re also genuinely interested in. That’s a win-win in my book!
