We can feel like we're really in touch with history when we visit museums. I really liked the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava. While I was there, I took a class where I learned how to make traditional Slovak patterns by hand. I also really liked the "Treasures of Slovakia" show at the museum. I am extremely passionate about museums because I believe they teach us to treat each other, our objects, our histories, and our own perspectives with reverence. Museums are also places that are pretty peaceful and restful, where the only thing asked of the observer is to be still, be somewhat quiet, and to be observant. Public spaces that do not require a tremendous amount of money to occupy said space are in critical danger in our modern society (libraries, community centers, etc., are examples of these “no cost” third spaces that are actively losing funding and support). If you only look within the photography world for inspiration you may never find new ideas so I often visit free London museums to open my mind to new concepts. I often visit the Tate Modern, which has an incredible collection of international modern and contemporary art, showcasing iconic works by masters like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, and Louise Bourgeois.
