“Take Responsibility for Your Life”
“It’s only when you take responsibility for your life, that you discover how powerful you truly are!” – Allanah Hunt
This is the quote that we have framed in our office, and it’s my favorite quote about taking responsibility.
It not only tells you to take responsibility for your life, but that there is a benefit in the end. It’s a lesson that I learned early in my career when doing IT. You can say you’re not sure how something happened, but you can normally do some investigation and find out if you truly were responsible for it.
You are better off taking ownership of your mistakes, and people will appreciate your honesty.

“Until You Take Ownership, You’ll Chase Happiness”
“Until you take ownership for your life, you will always be chasing happiness.” – Sean Stephenson
If one takes ownership of one’s life, then guess what, mistakes are moments of learning. Success lets you pat yourself on the back. However, you don’t become a better person by being successful. It is when one does something wrong, then says, how can I be better? What do I need to change?
Sixteen days ago, a friend agreed to let me be an accountability partner. I would send a text when I completed a task. After nine days, I did one task. I then asked if I could do it again.
For seven of nine days, I did the task, and I am confident I will complete it in 2 more days. Yet, over six months ago, we both were not good at a specific task.
I thought about how I could do things differently. Guess what, this time, it worked. I am happy in my life because I took ownership of my actions. I took ownership of my life. You can too!

“What You Do Speaks Loudly”
“What you do speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you’re saying.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote is about taking ownership of your life and your actions. If you want to be successful, it’s important to be proactive and put yourself out there. Emerson was definitely onto something when he came up with this quote.

“Nothing Will Work Unless You Do”
“Nothing will work unless you do.” – Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou’s quote is my favorite quote about taking ownership. It reminds us that the only way to accomplish anything is through action, which can be really helpful when motivation is running low.
I also love how empowering these words are, reminding us of the agency and control that we have over our path in life, whether personal or professional. We handle what we make of ourselves, for our own misery or happiness.
If we want things to be different, we can’t wait for them to change on their own. We need to make the changes ourselves.

“Just Trust Someone”
“The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” – Ernest Hemingway
In my opinion, this quote speaks volumes about taking ownership. When we trust someone, we are giving them the power to decide on our behalf. However, in order for this to work, we need to be confident that they will act in our best interests.
This quote reminds us that the only way to know for sure is to take the plunge and trust them. If things go well, then we will have gained a valuable ally. If things go poorly, then at least we will have learned a valuable lesson. Either way, taking ownership is always worthwhile.

“If You Own This Story, You Get to Write the Ending”
“If you own this story, you get to write the ending.” – Brené BrownWe often think that our lives are determined by outside forces, but the reality is that we have the power to write our own stories. No one can control us unless we let them, and we always have a choice in how we respond to difficult situations. Own your story and write the ending you want to see.

“Taking Ownership of Your Happiness Has Two Aspects”
“Taking ownership of your happiness has two aspects: Accepting that being happy is up to you and that you have the ability and power to be happier by changing your habits. Taking response-ability: responding to all the events in your life in a way that supports your happiness.” – Marci ShimoffThis quote reveals how we are responsible for our happiness. The same reasoning applies to other aspects of our lives, from solving problems to owning the consequences of our actions.
Whenever I feel overwhelmed or out of control, I revisit this quote and reset my mindset by making goals and taking tiny and immediate steps toward change.

“Do Your Part and the Rest Will Fall into Place.”
“Do your part and the rest will fall into place.” – Anon.
We spend so much time agonizing at a task that takes fifteen minutes or worrying about a colleague that doesn’t pull their weight. All we can do is our part. We can do it to the best of our ability and we’ll quickly realize that the puzzle pieces will fall together the way they’re supposed to.

“I’d Rather Attempt to Do Great Things”
“I’d rather attempt to do great things than dream about them.” — Ray Kroc
Ray Kroc is a classic example of a person who refused to give up. He had a goal, and he refused to stop until he reached it. “AFC”, as he is often known, founded the McDonald’s empire in 1955, at 52.
After noticing the potential of the Mcdonalds’ brothers’ hamburger restaurant, he took ownership of the restaurant and franchised it worldwide, making it the most successful fast-food chain in the world.
By owning his decision, he took ownership of his life and made the most out of a decision he made 25 years ago.

“True Ownership of Anything Requires Time.”
“True ownership of anything requires time.” – Barbara HollandTime is an ingredient for any type of success you’ll have in business, and in life. Time passing and time committed to a specific project will lead you closer to the goal, even if it might not feel like it all the time. One minute spent is one minute of dedication you are showing—and you’re one minute closer to your goal.If you want to take ownership of a certain project or client, then spend time on it and do the work. If you want to dedicate yourself to a specific area of your personal life, then find the time to do what you must in order to own that process.Time is power.
