### Meeting Challenges in a Rapidly Developing Field

I’ve been working in the cybersecurity industry for 22 years, and for 6 of them, I’ve been the CEO of UnderDefense. I am passionate about cybersecurity because it is a rapidly developing field. It helps me stay in good shape because new challenges and threats appear regularly, so I always need to invent innovative solutions. I find satisfaction in knowing that I’m part of protecting people and organizations from various cyber threats.

Cybersecurity enables me to help my country in these difficult times. I’ve been a part of CERT-UA (Computer Emergency Response Team of Ukraine) for almost 2 years since the war started. I must say, during this time, I’ve learned much more about cybersecurity than in the previous 20 years. Our team monitors the cybersecurity of various governmental organizations, including critical infrastructure. I believe I am making a small contribution to Ukraine’s victory by protecting governmental organizations from cyber threats.

### Thriving in a Fast-Moving, Essential Field

I am passionate about cybersecurity because it is essential, fast-moving, and integrated into almost all aspects of modern life. Cybersecurity is key to keeping our modern world functioning. Without it, companies and individuals can suffer financial and physical losses.

Cybersecurity never gets old because it is constantly changing. Adversaries are always coming up with new ways to attack, and companies are having to respond. This makes it exciting. Pretty much every business and utility is connected to the internet, making cybersecurity important to everyone. Those that invest in cybersecurity will benefit, and those that don’t will be rolling the dice.

### Preserving Our Modern Digital World

Cybersecurity is the sole reason the modern world continues to exist as we know it. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the increasingly connected network of services that make up modern life—much of which is online.

Cybersecurity and the belief that if you post something online or create something, then it will be safe, is what predicates the entirety of our current digital environment. I, for one, am very much cheering on every development in cybersecurity I read about, as without it, we’re back to some darker and less connected times in a heartbeat.

### Fostering Trust Through Secure Information Transfer

It’s a trust catalyst. It empowers companies and individuals to transfer sensitive information securely, fostering a climate of trust that is vital for growth and investment. Trust has enabled the launch of innovative startups, transforming wild ideas into reality.

For instance, trust in robust cybersecurity measures has been crucial for the success of ChatGPT, which has seen extensive usage. Without confidence in secure data handling, this breakthrough in conversational AI would not have been possible. The assurance that inputs are safe allows for the freedom to innovate and push boundaries securely.

### Securing Sensitive Data in Business

As a founder of a SaaS platform, I’m passionate about cybersecurity because it is one cornerstone of every successful business. We would never want to compromise our own or our clients’ sensitive data, so we establish the necessary cybersecurity measures and protocols.

In my experience with SaaS and automation, strong cybersecurity is crucial because it protects sensitive data. When customers use our platform, they trust us with their information. If we don’t secure it well, we could lose that trust, and our reputation could suffer. Cyberattacks are becoming more common and sophisticated, so staying ahead of potential threats is a must.

Good cybersecurity practices also help us comply with legal standards, which is important for operating smoothly. Keeping our systems secure means we can focus on improving our product without worrying about data breaches.
