In Pursuit

October 5, 2007 | by brett | Permalink

Yesterday I dropped off Jay and Noah, aka “the talent”, off at the Nashville International Airport to board a plane to Tucson. The reason?

Jay and Noah are in pursuit of a dream to live as professional rappers.

On Saturday they will perform in front of 600 fraternity brothers and sorority girls. All in attendance will be enjoying Tucson temperatures in the pool while listening to a littleClass Project (Jay and Noah’s group name).
Class Project will perform twenty-six songs, including every song on their new album “Rough Draft.”

And to make things even better, the advice that we so frequently receive, the one that says “pursue your dream and the money will follow,” has finally rung true for these two. They’re getting paid to rap for blondes in bikinis.

Meanwhile, Zach and I are about to hop in the RV to head over to Belmont University, where we will be talking about what we’ve learned on the trip to business students. We will be showing the Lucky-I-Am video, where he talks about not building up dreams for others on a hourly wage, and Gerard Nebesky, who cooks paella for us on camera.

So as our group is divided, one in Arizona, the other in Nashville, we are still united in our own pursuits.

Watch out Belmont University! You are sure to make an impact on those students. Have fun! All the best to Noah and Jay as they rap to the blondes, and lets not forget, brunettes, in Tucscon! I am fortunate enough to have Class Project’s “The Rough Draft”. I am particularly found of “Represent” and “Use Me Up”. They need to change the name from “Rough Draft” to “Final Cut”. They nailed it on this CD!

Alright…just got back from Belmont. I phoned the promoter yesterday to see how many people there would be in the audience today. She said she was expecting thirty. Maybe 10, but no more than 50.

We showed up at Belmont today to find over 100 students crammed into every available seat. Some students found themselves stationed on the floor. Others onlooked from an adjacent room.

It was ridiculous. Zach and I spoke for about 45 minutes about our travels, with most of the emphasis falling on what students can be doing now to prepare themselves for the future.

The students did not actively participate like we would have liked them to, but overall, it was a good experience. Maybe more of a learning experience than a good experience, but useful nonetheless.

Brett neglected to mention the “PTP” chant that spontaneously erupted at the end of our presentation and the fainting girls in the front row. He’s a modest guy, but our public has a right to now.

I spelled “know” wrong. What’s it to ya?

Unbelievable. Fainting girls?? Chants of “PTP?” Any autographs? You probably offered them to come in and sign your RV walls didn’t you? I think it’s great about Noah and Jay. I wish I could see a video of them and of your talk to Belmont. Thanks for letting us live it with you guys.

By the way, I’m behind on my emails, so I couldn’t post yesterday… I don’t like being behind on my emails. Yes, for work, but I also am a day behind your travels…I felt like I really missed out not reading this yesterday. Let us, your readers, know how Jay and Noah did.
