Blockbuster Deal
August 7, 2007 | by brett | Permalink
In a trade that resembles the recent Kevin Garnett for the Boston Celtics deal, Pursue the Passion has swapped Lawrence, Kansas and two days in Phoenix for Mount Rushmore, Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis.
“It was a no brainer,” said Farmiloe, founder of Pursue the Passion. “I mean, if we didn’t go to Rushmore now, when would we ever have the chance to go again? Plus, that 566 mile drive through Kansas from Denver would have been killer.”
Other PTP members were excited when they heard of the deal.
“I’m stoked,” said Zach Hubbell, video editor and driver who drives with a leadfoot. “I’ve always wanted to go to Mount Rushmore.”
Noah Pollock, a native of Tucson, Arizona, had this to add: “I’m excited. Minneapolis is like Tucson. It’s a hidden gem in this country.”
The deal will alter PTP’s schedule slightly, making the departure date of the second leg now August 16th, as opposed to August 18th. The team will be back on track when they hit Madison, Wisconsin, Friday, August 24th.

I may have a lead foot. But, I also have a heart of gold…

What prompted this route departure?

A couple things prompted the route departure. The seed was planted by our sponsor, Jobing.com, because they thought Minneapolis would be a much better spot for us to hit than Lawrence.
Then I got to thinking about it.
We would go to Vegas on a Saturday, leave on Monday, and not have many interviews there. We would drive 13 hours to Denver, then drive 566 miles across the beautiful state of Kansas the next day so we “might” have a campus day at KU.
Or we could go to Vegas a couple days early, get some quality interviews in, take our time on going to Denver, and go to Mount Rushmore, and Minneapolis. Both of those areas have great scenes I’m envisioning for our documentary.
So that’s what happened.

Minneapolis might also be a really interesting place in light of the recent bridge collapse. You might want to look into talking to a rescue worker or safety person if you could find one who would be willing/have the time to be interviewed.

We’re on the same page. I would love to interview a rescue worker, and get some shots of the bridge.
I’m sure those guys are sick of interviews by now though. I’ll still give it a go.

Maybe you can have your own Mt. Rushmore with your faces carved into the side of a mountain!
