How the Northwest Was Done

July 30, 2007 | by brett | Permalink

Goodbye Northwest. You treated us well. The people, the fresh air, clean water…it was enough to make any visitor cool out and chill for a minute.

We had some great interviews that will be coming your way soon, ranging from Nike to a “natural builder.” We had crazy press coverage, ranging from two newspapers, to four radio stations, to two TV stations…including a featured appearance on the show Northwest Afternoon. The show was an interesting experience considering there were about thirty people in the audience when we walked into the studio…it was definitely a feeling like “what the hell did I get myself into.”

We hung around the Space Needle and Pike Place market in Seattle all of Friday, conducting impromptu interviews with people ranging from the fish market guys to the Pike Brewery Owner. It was the first day where we did not have a single interview scheduled, and it turned out to be a spectacular, productive day.

We got a taste of the Portland culture by staying with Jay’s cousin Tony and his vivacious girlfriend Stephanie. We had the opportunity to spend our stipend at the Nike employee store, taking home some fresh new pairs of Nike’s for half off with no sales tax. I picked up a pair of Lance Armstrong’s while Zach picked up some shoes that resemble a three year old’s Play-doo masterpiece.

Spokane was saucy…we had pizza with David’s owner Mark Starr, who then chaperoned a trip to Fast Eddie’s to get a night in Spokane started.

Right now we are driving to disappear for a day in Yellowstone National Park. I hope to interview a park ranger, see the wild animals, and enjoy one of America’s finest landmarks.

Tomorrow’s post will include a few videos that were produced at the start of the trip, which I am sure you will enjoy while we have no internet access in Yellowstone.
