Journey to Silicon Valley

Our journey to Silicon Valley started off with a dead RV battery in Berkeley. Frantically running around Telegraph Avenue in search of jumper cables so we could be on time to our interview, we found a unassuming college student to donate twenty minutes of his time to get us going. After many unsuccessful attempts, we discovered an emergency start button that had us on our way after many more unsuccessful attempts.
The dead battery, coupled with Zach stepping and shattering his camera was the perfect way to start a Monday.
We had two interviews booked in Silicon Valley. One was with Okdork.com founder Noah Kagan, the other with Wayne McVicker, the author of Starting Something.
From the conversation we had with Noah over a lunch table full of burritos, I learned about keeping the fire lit, whether it be in a relationship or in business. From our conference room meeting with Wayne, I learned about the illusions business can play on entrepreneurs…everything from shallow VC’s to monumental IPO gains.
And from the conversation I had with the social worker lady who came to the door of the RV to tell us how much she loved her job, I learned that Silicon Valley is like a combination between Vegas and Hollywood. It’s a place where lots of people are chasing big dreams and trying to make a fast buck.
And from the first sight of the Golden Gate bridge, I realized how much I miss the Bay Area…it’s good to be home.

The battery went dead because it was our first night running the fridge, and because we left the outside light on all night to fend off anyone getting ideas of breaking in.
Hopefully it doesn’t happen again…
