Getting Independent on Independence Day

July 5, 2007 | by brett | Permalink

What a country we live in. We have the freedom to choose. We have the freedom to listen what our hearts desire, and we have endless opportunity to act upon those feelings.

Only in this country would I have the freedom to quit a horribly boring accounting position to travel the country in a gigantic RV for a summer. What a great way to start the tour…getting independent on independence day.

God Bless America.

Um, I love this country too, but somehow I think it’s quite possible for a Frenchman or a Canadian or a Briton or an Australian or a German or a Spaniard or a Belgian or… well, you get the idea… to quit a boring job and wander the country for summer. And even have health insurance while doing it.

I have found it better to hire on passion than hire on resume or accomplishments. Of course, one has to be qualified, but I would prefer someone who is “qualiFIRED UP.”

Yes John,

It is possible for people in other countries to quit a boring job and travel the country for an ambitious project. This is just my little rant on how much I love the land of opportunity on independence day.
